Hidden Valley Obedience Club Dog

Welcome to the
Hidden Valley Obedience Club
Home Page

Hidden Valley Obedience Club of North San Diego County, Inc., was founded in 1986 with a mission to promote responsible ownership of companion dogs and participation in dog obedience sport activities.  HVOC advocates positive communication, care and training of companion dogs by promoting maximum physical and mental well-being of the dog with proper fit into the family environment.

All levels of classes, from puppy through utility, are taught by the Club's members on a volunteer basis.  Club instructors frequently update their skills through attendance at continuing education classes and seminars.  Most have earned multiple titles in obedience competition and several are members of the National Association of Obedience Instructors (NADOI) and the Association of Pet Dog Trainers (APDT).  The club also provides testing for the AKC's Canine Good Citizenship program on a regular basis.

HVOC conducts an annual AKC-licensed obedience trial in October, and regularly participates in canine education and demonstrations for community events.

Training classes are held every Tuesday and Wednesday evening either at 6 or 7:00 PM.  All classes are held at HVOC's training grounds, which are completely fenced and lit at night.  Classes are 7 weeks long and are 45-60 minutes long.  The only exception is the first class for Puppies and Beginner Level I, which is an orientation class on a Saturday that is two hours long.  No dogs allowed at the orientation.  Please consult the schedule for exact start times for each class.  Find a class that's right for you on the Classes page and then register online at the  Class Registration page.

New Class at HVOC!

In our final session this year, we'll be trying out a new class called Body Awareness and Conditioning. We want to gauge the club's interest in this area, and get feedback to determine if the class will be added to the HVOC curriculum next year.

The class will be comprised of various exercises using ladders, perches, balance discs/bones, peanut balls, etc. to develop our dog's strength and proprioception. It's also a great way to strengthen the bond you have with your dog, and increase their learning skills and motivation.

Class will be held on Tuesday night at 6pm It will be limited to 8 dogs who are beginners in Body Awareness/Proprioception.

Registration will be done through Clair Meyer), not the HVOC website, as it is a trial class. It is not posted on the HVOC website.

Please email me with your interest in the class and I will send you a questionnaire to complete in order to register for the class.
